CIA Landlord Insurance Honda’s Niki Tuuli concluded a positive two-day pre-season test at the CIrcuito de Jerez in southern Spain today declaring himself very happy with his progress.
Tuuli and his crew tested a number of different set up options and came away from the Andalusian circuit with a really good base setting for the Honda CBR600RR to take into the start of the season later this month.
Tuuli said: “I think this was an even better test than in Portimão because we tested a lot of different things. I think I learned a lot, how to ride the bike and when we make a change I can feel what the bike is doing. I’m really happy about the last set that I rode because it was 0.7s faster than I have ever ridden here and this is only my fourth day. I like to ride this bike a lot and I think even more that it fits me better. I am really happy how the team works, how the bike works and with the lap times! I am really looking forward to going to Australia and starting our season together.”
CIA Landlord Insurance Honda Team Manager, Simon Buckmaster said: “We found a good base setting for the bike that works for Niki but will also help Andrew as well so it has been really positive. To be fair it was a bit cool for the zero tyre if anything but Niki’s best time is still four tenths quicker than the fastest race lap here last year and only two tenths off pole. Niki and Andrew are really good to work with and they’ve both settled really well. Now we go home and will work hard to get everything packed ready for Australia, so let’s get there and look forward to a really good Championship this year.”
