Top ten for Sebestyen & more to come from Danilo at Jerez

CIA Landlord Insurance Honda rider Peter Sebestyen enjoyed the best Tissot Superpole session of his World Supersport career to date today, posting a fastest time of 1’43.295 to qualify in tenth position. Sebestyen heads up the fourth row of the grid for tomorrow’s 19-lap race at the fast and flowing Spanish circuit.

Sebestyen said: “I am happy because the plan worked very well.  I pushed every lap and we found a very good set up for qualifying and I made a big step in my lap time.  I feel that the bike could do a better time, and also me. I am really confident about the race tomorrow. We have a good pace and the tyres work very nice.  I just can’t wait for the race.”

Despite a small crash towards the end of the session, CIA Landlord Insurance Honda teammate Jules Danilo was also able to make a solid improvement, getting in to the 43s for the first time this weekend.  Danilo completes the fourth row of the grid in twelfth place tomorrow.

Danilo said: “Well, first crash of the year unfortunately. It’s a shame because the bike feels very, very good.  Today could have been a good qualifying but I messed it up and I’m sorry for that.  I think tomorrow could be a good day for us; I’m consistent, I don’t get tired on the bike and I’m late on the brakes.  This morning we did a race run and I think I can go even faster than that if the conditions are similar.  So we’ll have to do a good warm up tomorrow, get the good feeling back, it’s still there and do a good race.”

CIA Landlord Insurance Honda Team Manager Simon Buckmaster said: “We haven’t quite made the first three rows but tenth for Peter and with such a good improvement in lap time he really is there to fight for a top six position in the race.  I’m really pleased for him and for all of us as a team, it is a good job.  Jules crashed at the end of the session at turn 5 or he would have been closer.  He just made a mistake really, not too much damage we’ll fix that for tomorrow.  He had good pace on a used tyre this morning in FP3 so he will have a run in warm up tomorrow, just to reset himself and be confident but I think both riders have a good chance tomorrow to challenge in the race. Both riders will have new engines for the race so a little edge more and they always race better so we are in good shape. Good job by the team.  I always say you need a bit of luck but we have a realistic chance to challenge nearer where we want to be and where we should be.”
