Weather catches Sebestyen & Danilo out at Donington Park

More progress was to elude the CIA Landlord Insurance Honda riders as the weather conspired against them in Superpole today at Donington Park.

With the rain arriving just six minutes into the qualifying session, both Peter Sebestyen and Jules Danilo missed the window to set a fast time and were left in fourteenth and eighteenth place respectively.

Sebestyen said: “I’m a little bit disappointed with my position.  I think we made a step forward but we still have a problem with the rear shock and I was very near to crashing on many laps so I couldn’t make a good lap time.  In the race I think I will have a good pace.  We have some fast riders around us so I would like to keep a good rhythm on the first laps.  We will see.”

Danilo said: “Well qualifying wasn’t great.  I knew I only had two laps to get the lap time but I made too many mistakes today.  We’ll try something in warm up and hope it can give me a bit more confidence on the bike in the dry especially.”

CIA Landlord Insurance Honda Team Manager Simon Buckmaster said: “It was obvious that it was going to rain, we knew we had to get out and make it happen in the first three laps and the long and the short of it is, we didn’t.  We had really good potential to qualify really well and obviously it is disappointing not to achieve that potential.  What can you say, tomorrow is another day.  Both our riders race better than they qualify and I am sure we can get an ok result but we missed a big opportunity to get on the first three rows and put ourselves in a really good position to challenge right from the start.  Now we are hoping for a really good start and to turn things around.”
